Synopsis

What does a vital, healthy, and fruitful church look like? Most Christians want to be a part of a church that fits that description and yet do not really understand their role in making the church they attend vital, healthy, or fruitful. Many times the average church goer is looking for someone else to make the church great when the truth of the matter is, the things that make a church great are often determined by the people who attend the church. The two components every church goer is a part of is the gathering and the going out. Why is it so important for people to gather in worship? We gather to grow in our faith. That growth takes place when people of faith live life together in communion with one another and with God. Gathering is essential to the Christian life and overall health and vitality of the church. The second component is the going out or scattering. Once the church comes together it is then called to scatter back into the community for the purpose of sowing seeds of the Gospel. The sowing takes place when the church goes out and shares the love, joy, and hope that is found in being in a relationship with Jesus Christ in the communities in which they live.Just as it is important for the church to gather to grow it is important for the church to scatter to sow. When those two components are being done the church can operate as a healthy and vital force within the community in which it exists. This book offers things to consider when it comes to how the church is to gather and then what to do when it scatters. There isn't any one thing that makes a church great, rather there are a bunch of little things. Much of those little things can and should be done by the members of the church. A healthy and vital church cannot be accomplished by the efforts or gifts of the pastor or staff alone. It takes the whole church working together to make the church great again.
