Synopsis
An Active Introduction to Russian published here for the first time in a form available to the public has been in use of the Foreign Service Institute for about ten years. This volume represents the fourth revision. The Active Intorduction is one of the modules in a array of materials used in Russian training. It is essentilally a catalog of sentences which can be combined to form different communication sequences in dialog form relating to typical daily activities. Students learn to speak Russian through engagging in the running dialog as communication sequence is unfolded. The central goal is the formation of natural sequences free from the constraints imposed by accommodation to a predeterminied schedule of grammar points and a list of words to be covered.
