Synopsis

The Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans is the greatest letter ever written. There is no other letter in human history that God has used with such great effect. This letter is a gift from God to the church of Jesus Christ. God the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write this letter. It is God-breathed. It cannot be broken. Paul was carried along by the Holy Spirit as he wrote this letter, so that it did not contain any private interpretation. It is the inerrant Word of God.This is a great epistle because in it Paul teaches us about the greatest of issues facing us fallen humans. He answers the question of how we sinful sons of Adam can be reconciled to a holy and righteous God. He teaches the doctrine of justification by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. He also teaches that the ultimate source of our salvation is found in God’s gracious and eternal decree of election. We meet God as the Sovereign Potter who has mercy upon whom He will have mercy. Towards the end of the epistle the Apostle Paul tells us how to live a new and godly life as the elect, justified people of God. This epistle celebrates and defends the supremacy and freeness of the grace that God shows to elect sinners to whom He gives faith in the Messiah. Paul celebrates the wonder that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
