Synopsis
Jane learns that she is illegitimate. Lizzy is the only child born to Fanny that Bennet can claim as his blood, but Thomas knew for a fact that Jane was not his child. Thomas does not interact with Fanny’s other children, nor does he care about his wife because he knows she was unfaithful. Mr. Bennet wants Lizzy to inherit his family legacy, Longbourn. So, he begins teaching her about running the estate from a young age. Thomas decides that Lizzy must marry his heir or the Bennet family will no longer have any connection to the property after he dies. Bennet tells Lizzy the truth about her sisters and mother; Jane overhears their private conversation. She becomes determined to marry before the situation of her birth is publicly known. Lizzy is devastated; her father is asking her to give up her dreams of marrying for love. She wants time to process the information away from her father’s watchful eye. Both of the older sisters are sent with the Gardiners to Derbyshire for the Spring. During their first stop in London, Lizzy goes for a walk in the park near her uncle’s home to recover from the carriage ride. She observes George Wickham following Georgiana around the park, attempting to convince her of his love. Lizzy saves Georgiana Darcy from Wickham’s plans. Finding out that the Gardiners were traveling to Lambton, Georgie invited her new friend to visit Pemberley. Georgie planned on introducing Lizzy to her older brother Fitzwilliam Darcy at his home. He instantly falls in love with Lizzy. Will Darcy be able to marry the woman that he loves? Bennet demands that Lizzy marries Collins, can Darcy save her from her father’s arrangements? Will Lady Catherine and Anne interfere? The family will need to deal with Wickham; he will not just go away after his attempted elopement is thwarted. How will Jane change after she finds out that she is illegitimate? What will happen to the rest of the Bennets?
