Synopsis

This volume forms part of the 2026 edition of the Complete Collection of works by the prolific and enlightened author William Walker Atkinson. Each book has been introduced and annotated by M.C. Mesen, a renowned scholar and translator of Atkinson’s works, who has also prepared a study guide for the collection.

Volume Thirteen brings together six of the most distinctly occult works associated with Atkinson and with several of the pen names under which his teachings circulated, including Three Initiates and Magus Incognito. These books explore Hermetic philosophy, Rosicrucian doctrine, arcane laws, vital magnetism, sexuality as a creative force, and the ancient wisdom traditions that sought to explain the hidden structure of reality.

At the heart of the volume stands The Kybalion, one of the most influential modern presentations of Hermetic philosophy. Through its famous seven principles, it describes a universe governed by mind, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, and gender, presenting these laws as keys to understanding both the cosmos and the workings of human consciousness. It has been enriched with 15 illustrations that help in the comprenhension of the principles.

The Secret Doctrine of the Rosicrucians turns toward the teachings attributed to the Rosicrucian tradition, exploring creation, cosmic evolution, the planes of existence, the nature of the soul, and humanity’s place within a vast spiritual order. The Arcane Teaching and The Arcane Formulas continue this investigation through a systematic presentation of hidden laws and principles intended to reveal the deeper mechanisms behind mind, matter, force, and consciousness.

Vril, or Vital Magnetism examines the concept of a subtle vital force and its relationship to personal magnetism, health, influence, and the energetic dimensions of human life. The Mystery of Sex approaches sexuality from an esoteric and philosophical perspective, considering sexual energy not merely as a biological impulse but as a fundamental creative force operating throughout nature and human existence.

Together, these six works form one of the most concentrated collections of Atkinson’s occult and esoteric thought, linking Hermeticism, Rosicrucianism, mental science, vital force, ancient philosophy, and spiritual development. They offer a remarkable journey through the hidden traditions that Atkinson believed preserved fragments of an ancient wisdom transmitted across cultures and generations.
