Synopsis

Seventeen thousand years out from Earth, the massive interstellar ship Dandelion Six nears its destination, an earth like planet orbiting a distant star. On-board are thousands of frozen embryos selected for their genetic diversity. Accompanying the embryos are an ever growing group of children aged from newly born to sixteen, who have been born on-board the ship in preparation for their arrival at the planet. Launched as an interstellar ark the Dandelion Six is one of the last hopes for the continual survival of the human species.Amongst those on-board, is a fifteen year old boy name Abbadon, and his two close friends Abigail and Xanthia. Also on-board is an unusual fourteen-year-old girl named Diantha who has attached herself to Abbadon and his small group of friends. The four friends live in the shadow of the first twenty. A privileged group of sixteen year olds who were the first to be born on-board. When not eating, or doing the mandatory exercise, the three friends spend their time in immersion. Immersion is a form of learning that total immerses the participant in whatever subject they are studying. The bonus for the three friends is that they can use immersion to play interactive games. For Abbadon and his friends their idyllic life comes to an end with the disappearance of the first born Aaron, and three other of the first twenty. At that time Abbadon learns from the ship’s AI that he is in reality a clone of both Aaron and the man who built the Dandelion, many thousands of years ago. With his close friends, and the reluctant remnant of the first twenty Abbadon must make difficult choices that will affect not only his friends, but the future of humanity.
