Synopsis

This is the 75-year history of Chemical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado. The book tells the departmental story with over 180 pictures and graphs, mostly of students and faculty, with writing to support the pictures. This book contains a brief history of the discipline of Chemical Engineering before the department was formed, and a more detailed history of the department as it evolved through many different department heads, department name changes, and degree name changes to the current Chemical and Biological Engineering Department. The book is parsed into nine chapters with an introduction and eight department heads, starting with J.O. Ball in 1944 and ending with Dr. Anuj Chauhan in 2019. Each chapter is organized in four sections: 1) progress during the department head tenure, 2) student stories, 3) faculty hires, 4) curriculum at the end of the tenure. A complete listing of department graduates by year follows in Appendix I.
