Synopsis

Never believe that a few caring people cannot change the world. For indeed, it's all that ever has. Stories and poems about life's challenges grouped around four themes: Community: we all have a right to belong; Childhood: it shapes who we become; Consequences: we all bear responsibility for our actions; Christmas: learning how to love is always going to be our biggest challenge. Four of the short stories have been been shortlisted in regional competitions. One of the poems in the collection was turned into a short and powerful film celebrating local regeneration and is a call to arms for the author's home: a north east coastal community that has a real story to tell. Each element challenges the reader to think about familiar issues in a new way. At a time when we are becoming only too aware of the impact we have on our planet, our families and our neighbours, this collection reminds us that, together, we can still make a difference.
