Synopsis

Driving a motor vehicle is probably the most dangerous activity in which your child will participate. While most states require formal driver education in school (or driving school) for teenagers, the majority require no more than six hours of behind-the-wheel training. Many states require a minimum of fifty hours of behind-the-wheel instruction by parent or guardian. So you, the parent, will probably be the biggest influence on preparing your child to become a safe driver. In this book you will be introduced to the IPDE system which is an organized method for you and your teenage driver to learn how to become an experienced defensive driver. Not only did this system help me behind the wheel with my students, it also helped me become a much safer driver in my own vehicle. In my twenty-one years of teaching driver education at Wesclin High School, I instructed about 1,500 students behind the wheel. I hope by sharing some of these experiences I can help you help your child prepare for a lifetime of safe driving habits.
