Synopsis
Ron works his way from raising rabbits as a boy in the Great Depression to heading one of the largest law firms in British Columbia. Fresh from law school in the prairies, Ron makes his way to Nanaimo, B.C., where he joins the rat pack of small city high society. There Ron's childhood Catholicism struggles with the freewheeling mores of postwar boomtown Nanaimo. He finds love, family, and success, but loses a child, his marriage, and his faith. A host of colorful characters join Ron -- hippies, naked nannies, and a pirate Mayor. This is a story of transformation, as Ron turns his wit from adventurous pranks to social change, establishing rights for religious freedoms and trial-by-jury, and defending the environment.
