This book is provided to give all who wish to travel to Alaska some basic guidelines to make their travel safe, memorable, and truly the trip of a lifetime. We do not seek to advise you on what to see or what to do, except for some information on things to see and do in Fairbanks. We seek to give you as much information as possible for the preparation and the planning of your trip as well as to provide guidelines to avoid those nasty obstacles which could hinder your enjoyment. In this book we seek to gather all of our experiences since our first Alcan trip way back in 1964. As of this writing, we have driven the Alcan forty-nine one-way trips. Our trips have been made in sedans, and we have slept in the backs of pickups and cargo trailers. Today, we travel using a modern RV.
