The first edition of the little book, Don't Call Em Yaks .. Kayaks and Kayaking the Ugly Truth was written about this time last year. Written in desperation as I would speak to new folks, newbies most everyday with most all of them asking the same questions. I of course am trapped here at the Kayak Shop, not a bad life I suppose, creating kayakers is what I do. Next came the Second Edition of Don't Call Em Yaks, this little book gaining in popularity here and in Europe. Again, I'm not to be confused with Ernest Hemingway, but there is a kayak information emergency. There is little to none or simply wrong kayak information available in the Box Store. Today those Big Boxes have the high ground the exposure of what to many appears to be a kayak. Guess what, they're Stuff and not to be confused with the boats aka kayaks that are fun and what kayaking is all about. Today's kayaks and gear have never been better. Now with Edition Three as I have said earlier the little book cost a couple of bucks and to those new to the sport it is worth a thousand. If your new or know of someone interested in kayaking get your hands on one. If you've been around for awhile and am enjoying the sport, buy a couple or a dozen and hand them out before that new to the sport boat buyer shoots themselves in the foot.....
