When he was younger he worked different jobs including bookkeeper, grave-digger, chauffeur, locksmith, merchant marine, Alaska bush pilot, store detective and owned an auto repair ship with a partner. He also dabbles in art, acquiring that skill when he was in the merchant marine. Now he spends his time making daily walks around the Village and talking it up with merchants and acquaintances alike. This book is a tapestry of characters Danny runs into, including his landlady, a 98 year-old barber shop owner, his grandniece, his mail carrier, a pizzeria owner and his daughter, an accountant and his son, a CPS caseworker, a psychologist and a detective to name a few, including many of their friends, relatives and associates, each with their own story. As for Danny, he longs to connect with a girl he knew from high school, but was too shy at the time to approach. He also helps his friends and relatives resolve their problems, whether just personal or trouble with the authorities. Some of these characters manage to resolve their own problems. If you like a story that is character-driven and gives you a ringside seat with the action and the people, while in the comfort of wherever you are, you’ll enjoy this book.
