Ryder contributed to a number of Bay Area-based publications: West Portal Monthly, Mythic Circle, The Lost Souls website, Beyond Bree, Electronic Green Journal, Rain Taxi, and San Francisco Book Review. His focused interests in early science fiction literature, the writings of John Steinbeck, and the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien were interwoven in his short stories. His poetry was a condensation of these elements, a quick glance at scenes around him.
