This is a book of poetry. It has been created serve as a recount of our gatherings where Jim Long, Richard Peterson and Ted Wild, drank wine and had long conversations with Don Miller on his patio. Our thoughts seemed deeper and more profound as the levels in the bottles dwindled. It is an unedited first draft to be read as we would have recited it. Jim and I wrote what we supposed was poetry. Well, what I supposed was poetry, as Jim is an acclaimed and accomplished poet. Richard would listen and comment with stories of his amazing life, drinking with Janis Joplin, hanging with Timothy Leary and living with a fierce and fun passion. Don Miller would comment on offered poems and prose and read some of his favorites from his “Poem a Day” calendar. At his passing, we decided to honor him in his chosen realm, poetry. Good, bad or indifferent, these are for him! We miss him deeply and honor him by trying to follow his Language Arts Muse.

. Jim: After growing up in the Midwest, my family moved to Southern California where I graduated from Cal State University Long Beach and The University of California at San Barbara. I served as a Professor of Sociology for 42 years at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California. I married the lovely Suzanne in 1966 we are the parents of two sons, Brady and Casey. I am presently retired and married to my garden and notebook. I am fascinated by the passage of time, life stages, and trying to make some sense of the meaning of life. So, I write poetry when I can, good or bad but never indifferent. Ted: My Memoirs of Vietnam, "Lions, Tigers and Cong" has also been published by Lulu Press. As an Executive Chef Emeritus, I have published articles in Culinary Trade Magazines, Web sites, A literary Anthology out of Ohio named Pig Iron Press, and Several Trade Magazines This is my first inclusion in a poetry collection and am honored to be included with Jim Long, an accomplished poet and author!
