Robbie is a very special bear. He lives in the Great Woods with Mama Bear, Papa Bear, and his brother Ted. Robbie learns all his bear lessons, such as hunting for berries and honey, climbing trees, and practicing his growl. But, Robbie has a special talent, too. He can read! His family and friends find it difficult to understand why he wants to read, and Robbie must show the value of reading. This special little bear demonstrates why it is okay to be different and why reading is so very important.

Debra Ison lives in Frankfort, Kentucky with her husband and dog Bailey. Although she is an author of adult mysteries and thrillers, Ms. Ison was inspired to write a children's book by memories of her father telling her bear stories. She continued the same tradition for her sons when they were young. Now, she has four grandchildren and she wants them to experience the love of storytelling. In this debut children's book, Ms. Ison assures young children that reading is fun, and it's okay to be different.
