Basil Jackson was a missionary who fell in love with his mission context. To say it in any other way would be underestimating the quality of an individual who would spend more than half his life and the entirety of his working life in a foreign land away from a comfort zone such as his motherland, England. This book is not a memoir of Basil Jackson, the writings used as footnotes in the following pages, written by contemporaries and other prominent Church figures, leave no room for any improvement. This is also not an appraisal of his contribution to the Sri Lankan Church; the biography written by Graeme C. Jackson, son of the former, written from personal experience as well as from a wide archival knowledge, would be the best handbook for that purpose. This humble attempt tries to understand the vision and mission the Rev. Basil envisoned for the theological education in Sri Lanka. It is an attempt to make his voice re echo into the modern context. Although non fiction in genre it is a novel of a love story and a tireless mission of an individual to make realize the goals of theological education.
