Synopsis
"Elementary Computer Mathematics" is a textbook designed for the first-year undergraduate student of computer science. Originally written in 2002 as an online text, the author has successfully taught with it over the course of five years at the University of Cincinnati. Since then it has been accessed over a million times by students all over the world.The text covers four major areas: 1) representation of data in the computer; 2) logic, Boolean algebra and set theory; 3) graph theory and finite state machines; and 4) using math and statistics to describe and model computer performance. The second edition features corrections, updates, all new illustrations and new problems.
