Synopsis

Eil Gadol includes commentary, text, and translations from Hebrew to English, of the hakafot (circling the deceased) ritual which follows taharah (Jewish ritual washing) and is found in the book Maavar Yabbok. This traditional practice is presented through egalitarian eyes, using feminine language, and a lens of kabbalah with Hebrew adapted for use by women. It can be used both for study and for honoring the deceased after a taharah.
