Synopsis
Comfort is a topic that commands our attention. Much of what we see advertised is designed to increase our level of comfort, and we willingly pursue comfort as an over-arching goal of our lives. We further consider it a sacrifice when we endure anything less than comfort, or venture outside of our "comfort zone." The Apostle Paul is not concerned about making his readers comfortable. He is concerned, however, that they have a proper understanding of comfort according to the plan of God. The sense of comfort he has in mind is the action of God that enables us to persevere, even in the midst of great trouble.
