Synopsis

With a controversial deciding vote from its Chief Justice, a State Supreme Court upholds the death penalty as unconstitutional. Three months later, the same Chief Justice is found shot to death. There are no signs of a struggle, but the police find a crumpled piece of paper with a series of unintelligible letters. Detective Edwards makes Jed Summers, whose wife and daughter were murdered, his prime suspect. The motive - revenge against the Chief Justice. Two more deaths follow, and Edwards is convinced Summers is responsible. With pressure building, Summers seeks the help of Dr. Kelly Young and hints he may need the legal services of her husband, Chris Knight. But does Summers have the personality, even in his terrible grief, to murder in cold blood or is there another motive for the killings? As the mystery slowly unravels, the discoveries might lead to deadly endings for all those involved. www.hhcharles.com
