At Fault was written by Kate Chopin (1850–1904) and is her first novel. It was first published in 1890.
Set in the late 19th century in Louisiana and St. Louis, Missouri, the novel is about Thérèse Lafirme, a young widow who had to her plantation in Louisiana. She falls in love with David Hosmer, a divorced businessman, but is unable to accept his marriage proposal. She seeks to reconcile her own needs with those of the people she was responsible for.
Kate Chopin was an American author who wrote short stories and two novels set in Louisiana, USA and titled The Awakening (1899) and At Fault (1890). She was considered by some to be a leading author of her time. Some scholars believe that she was a forerunner of American 20th century feminist authors.
