Synopsis

Moments great and small, of life-changing significance and none, make up our lives. In The Major’s Zeiss Binoculars, Rose Layton is ashamed of her moment. In The Bluebells Are Taking Over, Ed Baines revels in his. Angela Lock (née Angela Handy, a character in the first two stories as well as in The Coach House) blames her moment for all her shortcomings in life.Once adopted, these reactions acquire a momentum of their own with unforeseen consequences. Challenging situations arise. Can they be resolved amicably or is tragedy unavoidable?Set mainly against an Irish backdrop in the second half of the twentieth century, Moments in Time is a sequel to Deirdre Bates’ first novel, Flaxfields.
