David Shelby Kirk was born in 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He acquired his first motorcycle at age 14 and has been an avid enthusiast ever since. He entered the computing career field in 1964 and has been an instructor, programmer, manager, director and consultant across many industries. He wrote his first article for a technical magazine in 1982 and has contributed articles to a number of industry magazines since then. His first book was published in 1990 and his most recent (on management) was published in 2018. He resides with his wife Linda in central New York and continues to provide occasional consulting and web design services.
