Synopsis
Her homecoming should have been a joyous reunion, but after an encounter with a strange cloaked figure and an attack on the starport, she is drawn into a plot to pull back the thin veneer of peace and expose the forces which have manipulated not only her life, but the lives of all those who live within the supposedly civilized nations of Corallus. She is not alone in her search for truth. Buried within her mind is an ancient consciousness, a second soul, the unexpected byproduct of a flawed cloning process. The shadow within her did not agree to this arrangement and confrontation is inevitable. Shadows Within is set over 40,000 years after the evacuation of Earth, during a time period known as the 4th Age of Corallus, in a galaxy which ancient Terrans once called the Milky Way. Under the long-held facade of peace, various factions have worked to manipulate the lives of the many sentient races which have become part of the vast galactic community. The planet Highrule is one of the last remaining independent worlds, and this is where our story begins with our protagonist, Kayla, returning home to the only family she's ever known.
