Synopsis

Fixed point theorems play a major role in many applications, such as variational and linear inequalities, optimization and in the field of approximation theory. Fixed point iterative schemes are popularly used to solve the functional equations obtained out of the modeling of a physical problem. These problems can easily be expressed in the form of a fixed pointequations and these equations are solved by some iterative method. Due to its increasing importance in computational mathematics, especially due to the revolution in computer programming, the iterative schemes have extensively been studied by various authors. In this work, we prove that the coefficients involved in the iterative methods have an important role to play in determining the rate of convergence. To prove this fact, the comparison among various iterative schemes like the Modified – Mann, Modified- Noor, Modified – Agarwal, Jungck – Mann, CUIA iteration scheme have been donetheoretically as well as computationally.
