Synopsis

Word Days Volume I is a brave new almanac that equips readers and word lovers with specific ways to celebrate reading, writing, speaking, rhetoric, and thinking. Volume I covers every day from January 1 to June 30. In each day’s entry, WORD history meets WORLD history. Word Days is both a fascinating, fact-filled daily calendar and a tool for anyone who wants to learn more about language, literature, words, and rhetoric. In addition, each day's entry includes a distinct Writing Challenge that’s tied to the Common Core standards in English. You may have heard of National Grammar Day (March 4th), but what about the other days of the year? Have you heard of Knowledge is Power Day, Dead Poet’s Day, Hyperbole Day, Dramatic Monologue Day, Persuasive Appeals Day, Banned and Burned Books Day, Poetic Definition Day, Create a Monster Day, Open Letter Day, Embarrassing Misspelling Day, or Similes For Life Day? Once you’ve read Word Days, you’ll not only know what each of these days is all about, you’ll also know how to participate in the celebration!
