Thyroid nodules are a common clinical finding in the population, especially in women. The prevalence of palpable nodules is about 5%. The diagnosis of thyroid diseases has been constantly improving due to the scientific development and technological advances in diagnostic equipment. During the past 5 years, the management of patients with thyroid nodules and thyroid carcinoma has changed. Conventional and Color Doppler Thyroid Ultrasound is known as a useful technique for evaluating thyroid nodules. The essential aim of this book is to give the medical students and beginner sonographers who performing ultrasound examinations better knowledge in differentiating between benign, suspicious and malignant thyroid lesions criteria's , because some cases had overlapping features, which make them impossible to assess the correct diagnosis in every case , beside that to provide concise and useful knowledge regarding thyroid imaging technique.In this book we presented thyroid anatomy , physiology , normal ultrasound appearance of thyroid gland and diagnosis of thyroid diseases using gray scale , color Doppler sonography and provide a comprehensive and expanded review on the latest in the diagnosis and management of thyroid nodules using Elastography as a new diagnostic approach. The author hope that this comprehensive details of thyroid ultrasound will assist the interesting people to better understand images of interest and develop new initiatives in its use.
