David C. Antonucci is a civil and environmental engineering graduate of California Polytechnic State University and Ore-gon State University. He has enjoyed a 41-year public career, including 20 years as general manager and chief engineer of a multifunction special district in the Lake Tahoe area. He retired in 2000 at age 49. During his tenure, his district received over 50 awards of recognition for excellence in water, sewer and parks and recreation services. Moreover, the agency was consistently the most cost-effective service provider among similar agencies in the region, while having the highest level of service standards. He has worked with and served on numerous public agency and non-profit boards as a public official and private citizen. The author is Principal Consultant for Management Support Professionals, a management consulting firm serving local government. He specializes in facilitation and group process; workshops and training; organizational troubleshooting; and interim management assignments.
