K. Leroy Upton was born and raised in South Portland, Maine. He attended and graduated from South Portland schools. After serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S Hancock for four tours during the Vietnam war, he graduated from the University of Southern Maine after his Honorable Discharge. He and his wife Anita have been married for over forty-five years and have three grown children and four grandchildren. K. Leroy and his wife reside in Manchester, NH.
