This book intertwines the history of an extended family, with the history of New Orleans, Louisiana, the country, and the world. This history is an attempt to show the culture of the city and how that culture can be explained by the confluence of peoples amalgamated in this family's history. This book is the story associated with that history. In this story, the culture of New Orleans is seen and documented. This family history is about one extended family that is the culmination of many, many families and people. It is the family history of the Bourg family, the Talbot family, the Young family, the Rappold family, the Favret family, the Landry family, the Develle family, the Jung family, and the d'Hebecourt family.
