Synopsis

The Wind Of The Dark is a collection of the poetical work of Dr Angus McMaster. In its poetry, McMaster is able to put fire to all our certainties, burning down the barriers between emotions and language, objectivism and individualism, philosophy and story-telling. There are immortal fragments, as of the most tormented Nietzsche, in the Poet lucid analysis of the Dark that surrounds and devour our life, of the constant struggle to realise the deterministic, ineluctable nature of our destiny, and still being able to cry with blood-filled eyes, our anger to our damned love. In McMaster's more philosophical verses, the lyricism is often charged of psychoanalytical depth as in his oneiric ballades, in which the dream-work is revealed and the day reminiscence stays encrypted. But forget the empty virtuosos of the neo classical or the self-adsorbed moaning of the new wave, the message is communicated through a direct, self-ironic, self-mocking internal dialogue or by the acute, brutal, observation of life frames. In the Wind Of The Dark, the pain and the misery of the human condition is a fuel for the anger towards the zombified and empty reality of the mortgage-slaves inhabiting the universal graveyard-grey suburbia. McMaster’s opus is therefore a rough diamond in the current literary panorama of rose-perfumed, privy-green verses. A rigorous, metacritical reading is very much recommended to taste the fullness of McMaster's conceptual framework, but even the most acerb among the readers will feel the force, the hardness and the truth of the poems. The Wind Of The Dark is indeed a hurricane of raw contemporary poetry, a dark tempest coming from the night of the human soul.
