Synopsis
As Lacassine comes to terms with the role Aven has said he will play in Belasedre's future, he encounters challenges both of the mind and of the heart. What could God see in him that he would receive such responsibility? Or that he would receive Hesriana's love? Donmio does not see it as a matter of current wisdom or ability that makes Lacassine worthy of his role. Aven's visions were enough proof for him and so he endeavors to prepare Lacassine to rule. Yet turning over the power to someone else becomes more difficult than Donmio believed it would be. Missing Aven and trying to navigate her visions that have been continually guiding him and the others, he attempts to develop a strategy that he hopes will bring all the kingdoms of Belasedre into an alliance. An alliance that, in everyone's hope, will become an empire.
