John S. Horvath, Ph.D., P.E., Life Member.ASCE is a civil engineer specializing in foundation and geotechnical engineering since 1972. He has extensive experience in both practice and academia. Dr. Horvath has been instrumental in bringing geofoam geotechnology to a global audience, beginning with his seminal scholarly monograph "Geofoam Geosynthetic" that was published in 1995. This latest monograph is a more-focused treatment of using geofoam to reduce lateral pressures on all types of earth-retaining structures, a subject that he has been researching since 1987.
