Synopsis

In the throes of a convention full of geeks, Frog Jones told a story.

That story is found in this book's foreword, but the key line from the story became the title of this anthology. The authors seized upon that line, much like an out-of-control bovine seizing its own halter, and stampeded into the volume you see before you.

This is not just a comedy anthology. Nor is it horror, or romance, or literary, or...well, any one thing. Rather, it is all those things. Each story starts exactly in the same place. But each author immediately leaps from there into their own world. This anthology celebrates the creativity of these authors, because it does not shackle them to a theme. The starting line is the same--the finish line is on other planets, in other times, and in alternate realities.

You're not going to feel cohesiveness reading this thing. It's not going to be several stories hitting the same note. But you are going to experience a wider panoply of stories than you would in other anthologies.

And as to what you make of them, or what stories they may inspire in you? Well...that's your cow.

À propos des auteurs

As well as being Distribution Manager for WordFire Press, Sam Knight is Senior Editor for Villainous Press and has curated and edited four anthologies. He is the author of five children's books, four short story collections, two novels, and nearly three dozen short stories, including two media tie-ins co-authored with Kevin J. Anderson. A stay-at-home father, Sam attempts to be a full-time writer, but there are only so many hours left in a day after kids. Once upon a time, he was known to quote books the way some people quote movies, but now he claims having a family has made him forgetful, as a survival adaptation. He can be found at SamKnight.com and contacted at Sam@samknight.com.

Lee French lives in Olympia, WA, with two kids, two bicycles, and too much stuff. In addition to spending too much time on the Myth-Weavers game forum, she also trains in taekwando, keeps a nice flower garden with one dragon and absolutely no lawn gnomes, works an excessive number of book events, and tries in vain every year to grow vegetables that don't get devoured by neighborhood wildlife. She is an active member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and the Northwest Independent Writers Association, as well as serving the Olympia region as a NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaison.

Frog and Esther Jones are a husband-and-wife writing/editing/publishing team living deep in the rain forests of the Olympic Peninsula. They are primarily known for their running urban fantasy series, the Gift of Grace, and they appear in many anthologies other than this on as well. More information about their works can be found at www.jonestales.com.
