The second book in “The Garrison Series, Mutations follows the life of Garrison as he struggles to understand why God rarely allows His creations to experience moments of greatness throughout their lives, instead of often as he does. As Garrison goes to Harvard as a twelve year old to study biochemistry and cell biology, he realizes he must find a way to control the formula he has flowing through his veins. He wants to control the chemical structure of the formula so no physical mutations take place like it had with all the others. Garrison later attempts to play God by performing experiments on animals, keeping extensive notes on how they mutate as the formula is injected into them. He soon realizes these experiments aren’t providing him the answers he seeks, so he begins to experiment on humans. Garrison meets Marci and they fall deeply in love. He quickly realizes he cannot keep his secrets to himself any longer, and tells Marci who and what he is, as well as all about his experiments. Realizing his human trials aren’t providing him with the answers he needs, Garrison decides to travel to Europe to meet his biological father, Wolfgang, who invented the formula, hoping he can provide him with more answers. But things go very wrong as his traveling companion, Lewis, is bitten by Wolfgang and begins his own horrible transformation…

Author Kevin Popp was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, graduating in the early 1990’s from Bellarmine University with degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. After working a couple of jobs after college, in 1997 he found a great company in the Financial Securities market, working in the finance department. As the years passed, Kevin could no longer find any outlet to whet his appetite for this strange, dark world resting in the innermost parts of his brain. One day at work, he decided to write a book, and began creating an outline. Before he knew it, he had over five typed pages of notes. Creation, he loved that word! So he began creating a story, not about anyone in particular, but a story that he created from his imagination alone. He quickly found that he could create something by writing down what was in his mind. Although certainly not the twisted, heartless monster that you see in his books, Kevin says he sometimes has a dual personality, especially when he writes. While busy typing away, he loses himself in an imaginary world of a multitude of sadistic renderings, and his hope is that he is talented enough to bring his imaginary world into focus for all to see and enjoy. It is his goal, as the writer of this series, to disrupt not only your cognizant state of mind, but also your unconscious realm simultaneously. Like any great composer of music, artist or writer, as you read his books, he wants you to experience what is in his mind and soul, needing you to see his repulsion and loathing within him for some, as well as the pursuit of perfection that is inside his being. He doesn’t want to just scare you, he wants to firmly implant horrific torture scenes in your memories that will haunt you daily. He wants you to question the human race and the many gods they pray to. He wants to dominate your thoughts and force you to feel others’ pain.
