Synopsis
Hurricane Harvey finally left for Houston, leaving behind unbelievable devastation. No power, no water, no passable roads. First step: Search and rescue. But then what comes next? Aransas County, one of the smallest and poorest counties in Texas, needed a plan for keeping state and federal attention focused on Aransas County. Recovery advice is often geared to larger cities. The recovery roadmaps for Aransas County, the city of Rockport and the town of Fulton were not clear. So, Texans that we are, we wrote our own. Roadmap to Recovery is our stories and the lessons we have learned, mostly the hard way. We hope other small communities experiencing huge disasters will benefit from what we learned.
