TRAUMA NARRATIVE TREATMENT is an evidence-based group narrative therapy approach using a wide range of elements from trauma research, including linguistic representation, externalization, reauthoring, body work, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, art, music, and movement toward the integration of traumatic memories. The six-session model addresses the variety of issues resulting from trauma, such as the loss of a sense of self, fragmentation of memories, feelings of shame and self-blame, rage, feelings of powerlessness, loss of agency, dissociation, grief, loss, compromised social functioning, and spiritual disengagement. The model has been used world-wide, including in Haiti, Rwanda, New Zealand, the United States, the Middle East, Malaysia, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Cambodia, the Dominican Republic, and more.

W. David Lane, Ph.D., is professor of counseling at Mercer University, and is the founding faculty member of the counseling program at Mercer University in Atlanta, GA. He has more than forty years experience as a counselor, counselor educator, and supervisor. Dr. Donna E. Lane is an award-winning author, professor of Counseling at Mercer University, and a Christian Counselor in private practice since 1993. Along with her husband, Dr. David Lane, she developed a program for individuals suffering through trauma, initially used in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. She and David also brought the program to Newtown, CT, following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, leading training workshops for pastors and community workers to learn how to lead the program in their community. From those experiences, the Lanes co-wrote Trauma Narrative Treatment, a training program for individuals working with trauma victims, which has been used nationally and internationally, and Gold Stone, the children's book for all ages which accompanies Trauma Narrative Treatment.
