Synopsis

By the grace of God, we are humbled to present Volume 4 of LAYLA Journal: The Lady of Light. This volume focus on the life of Lady Fatimah (a). The Lady of Light, Fatimah al-Zahra (s) is recognized as an example of perfection for all of mankind. She is best known for her role as the daughter of the Holy Prophet (s), the Beloved of Allah (swt). She was raised in a household of Light and then married an extension of that Light, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (a). The ummah witnessed her upbringing, marriage and the exemplary children she raised. Yet, her example goes beyond these important roles as a mother, wife and daughter and encompasses all aspects of her existence, including her deep knowledge, socio-political activities and most importantly, her servitude to Allah (swt).Words fall short in describing the spiritual station she acquired by virtue of her servitude, perseverance, and love for Allah (swt), and not solely because of her status as the daughter of the Prophet (s) or wife of Imam Ali (a). Even the purest hearts are in awe trying to understand her great status. She is a light whose spiritual station is on a par with the Holy Imams (a).We hope that this journal serves as a reminder of the perseverance of Lady Fatimah (a) throughout her life. She was given the status of the Lady of Light, which we can only attempt to reflect in the following pages. She did her responsibility in every situation, which serves as an example for all of humanity, and we hope to encourage learning from her as a true role model. Through heart wrenching poetry and gorgeous art, each artist in the LAYLA JOURNAL VOL. 4 continues the legacy of Lady Fatimah (a) by commemorating her through their work. Our contributors are immensely talented and we are humbled to have their work in this issue: Soghra Fatima, Ghulam Hasnain, Naimal Rizwan, Nida Fatima, Hasan Askari, Farhat Askari, Batool Amin, Majeda bint Ali Hemmings, Mahnoor Ahsan, Raazia Hussain, Zahra Nabavi, Zainab Aoda, Zaheeda Bhalloo, Sayeda Fatima Hamdani, Haider Ali, Adhraa Arastu, Fasiha Zehra, SyedaKiran, Fatima Mohamad Ali, K.
