Enigmatic, philosophical, and periodically caustic, Crow haunts the mountain and is sometimes moved to deliver commentary or wisdom on human (and non-human) exploits. In these thirteen poems the author and her totem discuss newly-discovered dwarf galaxies, Japanese paper-folding, a murder mystery novelist, time travel, deep-sea creatures, the author's progressive neurological disorder, and growing up.
Everywhere they are surrounded by the creeks, animals, trees, weather, and wildflowers of the Appalachian mountains where they both live. At times the connection is magical. Often there is deep value in Crow's unique stories and archetypal insights, and sometimes the two of them simply enjoy a good belly laugh together.
