Synopsis

The Laws of Mother Nature are being challenged.

Romi, a young rabbit, is striving to make sense of a world in which she has been born as the runt of the litter. Her parents are courageous in their role to raise her and her siblings in concert with the laws of Mother Nature. They encourage their offspring to be who they are and be that well, using their essence, their rabbitness, that has been imbued in them by the Master Craftsman. They know that this is the best path for their progeny to be able to survive as prey in this predator filled world. As with every living plant and creature, their goal was to survive so as to give birth to the next generation.

But there is a growing challenge to the truth, beauty and good since the dawn of time. Some have been seduced by new philosophies about self-expression, in seeing the ultimate value is that of personal freedom. Not a freedom to do what one ought, but a boundless freedom to be whatever one wants. The new thinking is deceptively sown by the self-proclaimed Lord of the Flies whose main ambition to spread a vile distrust of Mother Nature and the Craftsman that will ultimately lead to confusion and chaos. His deception is to spread a misery that alienates animals from the source of good, beauty and truth.

Romi’s friend decides that a dislike of carrots and a fascination with another species defines who she is. Her parents, who have bought into the new thinking, encourage her confusion under the illusion that it is a freedom to be what she wants.

Romi at first sympathizes with the pursuit to be who you want. She would love to be free from the shackles of being a runt. But a near-death episode along with courageous counsel from here parents helps her to see that accepting her essence is critical to her survival.

She finds it increasingly difficult to support her friend’s decision to ignore her essence. The tension mounts as Romi’s friend demands friendship based on tolerance, even to the point of celebrating risky choices, rather than genuine caring. Her friend’s brother, with the encouragement of their new thinking parents, takes the alleged freedom to an even more daring choice

Friendships and lives are imperiled as the new thinking is taken to its logical but tragic limits. Only courage to the truth can provide a way for the rabbits to survive so as to answer their calling to produce the next generation.
