Synopsis

A recent college-grad seeks to heal the land through regenerative agriculture. An educator shares her love for vermicomposting and earns the nickname "The Worm Lady." A family opens an organic grocery store in a food desert. A boy who loved to play in the woods becomes a man who founds a land trust protecting nearly 3,000 acres. These are just a few of the stories collected by Ball State University Honors College professor, Dr. Adam Kuban, and his students in partnership with The Facing Project. Each story is told from the perspective of a person in East Central Indiana who strives to make sustainable impacts and improve their respective communities. Using The Facing Project model, each student writer was paired with one or two storytellers to collaborate on a story documenting their unique stories. The book also contains information emphasizing sustainable organizations throughout Indiana and examples of what one can do to begin sustainable behaviors in their own lives. The Facing Project is a nonprofit, which seeks to create empathy and understanding through stories that inspire action.
