Synopsis
God has blessed me with boundless joy in my spirit as I write this journal. I can see the hand of the Lord in unanticipated situations that can occur on any ordinary day.
When I looked up the definition of reflection, I found two that apply to this book:
- a profound thought or consideration, an idea about something,
- giving back or showing an image.
This devotional book embraces both meanings. I have given serious thought to commonplace situations, objects, or people, to illustrate an image of Jesus. God created this world and may be seen everywhere when we are looking.
I came from a family of five, Mom, Dad, two brothers, and me. Ours was a happy family, and my parents taught me to see the good in everything. When I married my husband Frank (who is deceased now,) our life was fun since he had a delightful sense of humor. We laughed plenty of times during our thirty-eight years of marriage. God has also blessed me with great friends and you will meet some of them in my stories. They help me see our Lord in many circumstances.
Some stories are funny, and some are serious. When I encounter an unusual occurrence or think of a familiar object, I ask God to show me something about Himself. I am often amazed at how God can be seen in ordinary things, for example, my microwave.
I hope in sharing this book, the reader will catch a glimpse of God in everyday life. When something happens, ask, “What can God teach me?”
My first entry is about journaling. I have written fifty-two reflections, one for each week. Maybe you can read it every Sunday afternoon and reflect on the words. Another objective is for you, the reader, to see that journaling can be gratifying. I have included a space for you to write your thoughts after each entry. As you read and meditate on these reflections, I pray that you begin to record your thoughts.
It is much easier to see God in our life when we are acquainted with Him. The way to do that is to be faithful in reading His book, the Bible. When we make a habit of daily reading, we can see Him throughout the day in our undertakings. The more we read His Word, the more we can see His Reflection on an Ordinary Day.
