Why does the NCAA lobby against the rights of college athletes, namely basketball and football, with almost a million dollars each year? Most of these athletes are African American. Do the lives of these athletes actually matter? Or is it strictly profits over people? With the passing of California Senate Bill 206 and the NCAA agreeing, only to later disagree on all points, to pay athletes based upon their name, image, and likeness (NIL) has brought the divide to a boiling point. The veil that has covered up the illusion that athletes should be grateful for the handouts they have been given has been ripped. The Fallacy uncovers the issues of hegemony, social stratification, and dirty politics that plagues college sport and society.
