Synopsis

Truth is often sugar coated to the point of being sweetened beyond recognition. One of those truths is that attendance in our lives is not a general admission event. We decide who enters, who gets orchestra seating, and who’s in the nosebleed seats. Sylvia’s Pearls teaches us to take this responsibility seriously.

As the book illustrates, negativity can be present in our life because we sent it an engraved invitation. The rush to say yes and the desire to accommodate can unwittingly invite negativity into our lives.

Whether invited or uninvited, the best defense against negativity is another negative which is the word no. So much of the world deserves a resounding yes. Unfortunately, many people and situations require us to return to our terrible twos when the word “no!” was said more adamantly. Saying no is the second step towards turning your life positive.

Sylvia’s Pearls clarifies that the first step is seeing ourselves and others just as we are, not who we want them to be. The belief that “Forewarned is forearmed” empowers us to decide how much negativity; if any, we allow in our lives. Just because others broadcast negativity doesn’t mean we have to tune in.
