How do you write fiction based on the Bible? It's a question I've been asked many times, in fact, it is what prompted me to write this book. Faith aside for a couple of minutes, the Bible is a source of many wonderful stories. These stories and their meaning can be greatly enhanced by putting them in the environment in which they would have happened. Knowing the "who", "what", "where". "when". "why" and "how" allows them to blossom and their meaning to be more "meaningful". Religious Fiction is not something new, only the classification is new. Great Religious Fiction books have been hiding on library shelves for centuries. Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy," written between 1308 and 1321, is an epic poem that serves as the cornerstone of Christian literature. John Bunyan's "The Pilgren's Progress" was written in 1678 is a famous allegory of a Christian's journey toward salvation. Even Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables" 1862 and Dostoevsky's "The Brothers Karamozov" 1880 were great Christian novels providing profound narratives on redemption, grace, morality, doubt and the exploration of faith. Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" was deeply rooted in Russian Orthodox Christian themes, especially redemption. Are you be the next Religious Fiction Writer?
