Authors Note:
The book series was inspired by watching our son obsessively reenact creature fights. In our living room he would stage carnal duels between spiders and snakes, wasps and bees, beetles and butterflies, octopuses and crabs and many others. Rather than calming down those destructive themes, we saw it as a natural step in development of the sensibility that informs his understanding of physical and social boundaries. We started writing children books to help steer those energies towards learning.
