Whether pregnancy was nine months or forty weeks was a true point of contention with my husband, Cameron, and me. He legitimately thought I was crazy every time I spoke of our due date because it wasn't nine months after our estimated date of conception. It was only after several months that he got SO frustrated that he breached the topic and we ironed this "mystery" out. From that experience (and a few more) it was evident that there were some grey areas around pregnancy that might need a little more attention and discussion. So, I got to writing. Whether over brunch, at a baby shower, or on a subway, I hope this brings out stories and conversations that normalize the oddities that go along with the incredible (and sometimes scary) experience of pregnancy.

Carolyn Byrd is the owner and founder of Cary Integrative Health, a health care collaborative between mental health providers, dieticians, functional medicine doctors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and coaches. Within the practice she works as a habit and health coach, and massage therapist. She is also a registered yoga teacher, a personal trainer, and veteran. Her work focuses on moving her clients out of mental, habitual, and physical blocks and pain patterns. She is passionate about what she does and believes education and community are keys to optimal health care. She is wife to Cameron and momma to Cardinal Elizabeth, to whom she holds highest gratitude and love for making her a better person every single day. When she is not at her clinic or at home with her people and menagerie of pets, you can find her at the barn riding her own horse, Godiva, or cooking up something plant-based and gluten free.

Sarah Gramelspacher worked on the illustrations for this book during her third trimester of pregnancy, while experiencing some-but not all-of the phenomena described in its pages! Growing up in and around New Orleans, Sarah started drawing as soon as she could hold a crayon, and has never stopped! She studied painting at the University of New Orleans and earned her BA in 2006. Sarah has exhibited paintings in galleries across the U.S., and has created illustrations for picture books, middle-grade novels, and magazines. She has worked with Highlights Magazine, Cricket Media, and Arcadia Publishing, to name a few. She is represented by Kate Kendrick at Astound Agency.
