Laura Carolfi is a children's book author who loves gardening with her four children in her New Jersey backyard. She wrote this story/song about the real hungry little gopher who ate tomatoes from her vegetable garden. Sparrows, chipmunks, and rabbits try to get into her garden, too, and the squirrels were delighted one year when she grew corn in the driveway! Laura has previously published the bilingual children's grief picture book, Tower in the Stars/Torre en las estrellas.

D.E. West is a Deaf illustrator, graphic designer, creative designer, and publisher. His paintings, drawings and photography have been exhibited at national exhibitions and galleries, including the US Capitol and the International Photography Hall of Fame. West co-owns a book publishing and design company and resides in the Kansas City area with his family, a dog named Patty, and two guinea pigs named Poe and Percy.
