Synopsis

An odd love story told by a father and son who remain absent, but always true to their loved one. The family lives as adventurous hermits in travel trailers, traveling from park to park. They educate Hector in libraries and sustain themselves through hunting and fishing. However, Dossie undergoes a transformation and buys a house, wanting to settle down. Despite their attempts to adapt, they long to travel once more. Dossie's sudden change confuses Jim and Hector, and they become fearful of her new behavior. Dossie starts trying to control their every move and befriends other women who support her bossiness. After she calls the sheriff on them, Jim and Hector decide they have to leave. As natural hermits and wanderers, they know they cannot survive being locked up or confined and must part ways to seek new paths. They flee, leaving Dossie behind. This poignant story of a painful love parting is a tribute to life's call towards making a new destiny. It's a very direct story, told by men with no frills but yet painfully shy and soft. It's a good read for women who want to understand men's emotional makeup better.
